We have walked across the Brooklyn Bridge many times. And I have taken my morning run across the George Washington Bridge many times. But we have never walked, as a family, across the GWB even though it is right here in our neighborhood. Mid-October, Aunt Barbara and Uncle Doug came down to visit one weekend and so after dinner we decided to take a walk. We ended up heading across the GWB which apparently has been on Barbara's bucket list since she was a little girl who drove across the GWB every weekend with her family on their way to their weekend cabin upstate. Doug was also excited to walk to New Jersey (he is from NJ) because even though it's really not that far, saying you walked to another state sounds pretty cool, don't you think? It was exceptionally windy that evening. But it was a nice walk anyway. We missed my cousin (their daughter), Liz, who loves these sorts of NYC adventures and so we texted her the photo below to let her know we love her and were thinking of her.
The lights this month were pink in honor of breast cancer awareness- although they really appear more purple than pink.
