Revlon 5K Run/Walk for Cancer

Today we participated in the Revlon Run/Walk for Cancer. It was a very rainy day, which made it interesting, but it was a great time anyway! Over 35,000 people participated, so it was hard for us to ever get into a space where we could really walk fast or run, but nevertheless, we enjoyed our time together supporting the cause of Cancer Research. Almost everyone was wearing a sign on their backs stating who they were walking in memory of and we were saddened to see how many YOUNG people were walking in memory of their mothers. Many, many, many thanks to John & Ruth Elliott (Kendra's grandparents), Richard & Joan Cope (Matt's parents) and Aliisa Leon (a friend of Kendra's) for their generous donations/pledges to cancer research!! So many people have been affected by cancer...

We "raced" in memory of Matt's granmother, Klea Worsley

We were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints team.

The Bronx Zoo

Today we went to the Bronx Zoo with Grandma Susan, Steve Snedecor (Kendra's cousin) and Mom & Dad. It was kind of drizzling rain when we arrived, but it cleared up by the early afternoon. We saw lots of great animals, and Lexi loved to growl and wave at them. We saw monkeys and sea lions, birds, giraffes, baboons, a red panda, deer, buffalo, and tigers! We even got to watch them feed the tigers! This is not a great picture, but we had to get a shot of Alexis the Tiger! Here she is wandering off to the back of the yard.

Grandma Cope

Alexis & Mom with Grandma Cope- we were so happy to have Grandma Cope come and visit us! We did lots of fun things while she was here... we went down to China Town on Saturday where they were having a festival called "A Taste of China Town". We paid $1 for a sample dish of food- we tried lots of chinese food- fried rice, lo mein, spring rolls, curry. YUM! On Sunday, we went and visited with Matt's cousins Ian & Tessa Williams who just had a baby girl a week ago. She is so little and adorable! Wish I had a picture of her to post here. They live in a beautiful brownstone in Brooklyn and we got to drive over the Brooklyn Bridge! Monday we visited the Museum of Natural History, and Tuesday Grandma went back to California. We look forward to seeing her again in August and for Lexi to meet Grandpa Cope!

American Museum of Natural History

Today was a busy day! We went to the Museum of Natural History with Grandma Cope, Grandma Susan, Steve Snedecor, Mom & Dad. Dad was able to come with us because he has the week off of work (one bonus to being a school teacher!) We saw the dinosaurs, the rocks & gems, and animals from all over the world. After the museum, we got pizza at a great little place called Patsy's. Fun times!

Conservatory Garden

New York in bloom! Today we took a trip down to the Conservatory Garden in Central Park. There were lots of beautiful flowers and trees in bloom. After a cold, dark winter, spring is finally here- and there are so many fun things to do outside in the city! The sun was shining brightly today- not a cloud in the sky, but there was a nice cool breeze, so we weren't too hot- perfect weather! Unfortunately, the majority of my pictures came out a bit blurry (this one included), but here are a few that turned out okay.

Playing with Oreo

Today we went to visit Grandma Susan in Chappaqua where she is house/dog sitting for some friends. This was Lexi's first real encounter with a dog. She loved Oreo! They played together for quite some time.

Thomas' Birthday Party

Lexi went to her first birthday party. Thomas turned 2 and had a Fire Truck theme. All the kids got to be a firetruck (complete with fire hat, but Lexi didn't want to wear it long enough to take a picture.) Then they threw a blue "water" ball at the fire on the wall to put it out.
