Conservatory Garden

New York in bloom! Today we took a trip down to the Conservatory Garden in Central Park. There were lots of beautiful flowers and trees in bloom. After a cold, dark winter, spring is finally here- and there are so many fun things to do outside in the city! The sun was shining brightly today- not a cloud in the sky, but there was a nice cool breeze, so we weren't too hot- perfect weather! Unfortunately, the majority of my pictures came out a bit blurry (this one included), but here are a few that turned out okay.

Playing with Oreo

Today we went to visit Grandma Susan in Chappaqua where she is house/dog sitting for some friends. This was Lexi's first real encounter with a dog. She loved Oreo! They played together for quite some time.

Thomas' Birthday Party

Lexi went to her first birthday party. Thomas turned 2 and had a Fire Truck theme. All the kids got to be a firetruck (complete with fire hat, but Lexi didn't want to wear it long enough to take a picture.) Then they threw a blue "water" ball at the fire on the wall to put it out.

Revlon Run/Walk For Cancer

On Saturday, April 30, Matt, Alexis and I will be participating in a Run/Walk for Cancer through New York City's Central Park. We would love it if you could join us in the fight against cancer by making a donation in our behalf. Even if it's just $5! Every little bit helps. Any donation is tax deductible and can be done securely over the internet with a credit card. This cause is close to our hearts, as Matt's grandmother died after a struggle with cancer and his father is a cancer survivor. If you feel you can help us out, please visit www.revlonrunwalk.com/ny and click on "Sponsor a Participant" on the lower left-hand side. Then click "Sponsor aParticipant" when the option comes up. You can just search for me (Kendra Cope Bib# 20506) or Matt (Matthew Cope Bib# 20507). That will take you to our pledge pages. Thanks for your support! And be sure to check here for pictures of the event!

Grandma Susan's 50th Birthday Party

We celebrated Grandma Susan's 50th Birthday at our place with dinner and cake. Laura made a "This is your life" video- so fun to watch! Here is the whole gang (Allie, Mom, Laura with Alexis, Matt & Kendra)

15 month Doctor Visit

We saw Doctor Eng today. Lexi weighs in at a measly 22.5 pounds and measures 32" tall. Although I don't think that height is correct. She is taller than every baby her age and we constantly hear how tall she is (and our rudimentary measurements put her at AT LEAST 33"). She had to have blood drawn today to test for anemia and lead poisoning (we do live in a "pre-war" building with OLD paint). The doctor put the needle in her little vein, and she just sat on my lap and watched. Not a peep from my brave little girl. She sat still and seemed somewhat fascinated by the flow of red blood through the tubes. And she was fascinated by the band-aid on her arm, as well. She kept touching it and feeling it. (On the bus ride home she wanted to take off her sweater so she could look at her bandage again). Also, when they gave her a vaccine, she initially cried out but was over it in a matter of seconds. Maybe we better start saving for Med school....

Swim Meet

Kendra's cousin, Liz Snedecor, came to Long Island this weekend to swim in the state high school swimming competitions. Her relay team placed 3rd! We made her a sign so she would know where her fan club was located in the stands. We decorated it with a butterfly because that is her strongest event.

We ate lunch at Cosi with Liz (the swimmer), Grandma Susan, Aunt Barbara and Uncle Doug. For dessert we had our very own platter of S'mores... they gave us the graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate along with some wooden skewers and a Sterno for us to roast our marshmallows right there in the restaurant. It was VERY fun!!
